Top 10 Best Things To Do In Punta Gorda

Time to get your sea legs. If you want the best of what Southwest Florida has to offer, Punta Gorda Adventures is for you.  Punta Gorda Adventures gets you out on the water.  With boats.  Well, not just boats.  Sailboats.  Tiki boats.  52 Foot Motor-Yachts.  Kayaks. The works.  At Punta Gorda Adventures we offer the best excursions on Charlotte Harbor. Whether you want a romantic getaway with your honey (more on that in #4), or some fun for the whole family, there’s only one place you can get it all.  Let’s dive in, shall we?

#10 Self Guided Kayak Tour

Swamp life!  On a self guided kayak tour you’re free to explore the majesty of the Peace River however you’d like.  Tour the swamp in a single kayak, or recruit a first mate and tour in a tandem kayak.

PRO TIP:  Tandem kayaking makes for an adventurous date that makes magical memories.  Every tour comes with a USGC certified life jacket, in case you’re feeling a little silly and decide to take a dip with the swamp puppies (gators).  A safety whistle to make animals dance in harmony Disney princess style, or in the unlikely event you get lost.  And a dual rudder paddle for you to glide through the river. Our next item has been making big waves on Charlotte Harbor.

#9 Visit The Sunseeker Resort

Locals know.  It’s the latest and greatest attraction on Charlotte Harbor.  Construction began late 2019, and ever since it’s been all the buzz.  Rightfully so.  The Sunseeker Resort is 22 waterfront acres of pure delight.  With plenty to do on site to keep you and your whole family entertained for a weekend getaway.  Here are some of my favorites.

Lorelei Spa & Salon:  Soooo relaxing.  You’ll feel right at home, and then never want to leave.  Lorelei offers facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, and hair treatments.  They have something for everyone, men, women, kids, and couples.

Harbor Yards Food Court:  Not your average food court.  They have a huge variety of delicious foods, Asian, Hispanic, pizza, a raw bar, wine & cocktail bar, beer garden, baked goods, ice cream, charcuterie, coffee, and a traditional All-American grill.

Maury’s:  Fine dining.  Maury’s brings all the surf & turf your heart could desire.  Their famous tomahawk steaks are exquisite and merit a reservation all on their own.  Not to mention the elegant touches of service, signature cocktails, unrivaled wine selection (over 200 bottles), and of course the fresh seafood.  Do note pool attire is not permitted in Maury’s.

Reflections Pool & Bar:  On the ground level with a stunning view of Charlotte Harbor, enjoy this enormous heated pool year round.  Comfortable lounging and private cabanas surround the reflections pool.  You can order frozen cocktails and small bites right to your chair/cabana.

#8 The Quest For The Fountain of Youth

The average age in Punta Gorda is 65.  There’s a lot of people on this quest, so quest while you can.  The Quest For The Fountain of Youth is one of Punta Gorda Adventures most unique offerings.  It’s an outdoor scavenger hunt, with high stakes.  Bragging rights.  Oh and eternal youth or whatever.  It’s based in Laishley Park, where you’ll use your phone, your trusty journal (that you pick up at 401 E Olympia Ave, Punta Gorda), and all the brain cells you have left to solve the puzzle of famous conquistador Juan Ponce De Leon’s 500 year old quest.

You’ll learn all types of historical facts along the way like; who was Juan Ponce De Leon?  What did he do in his life?  Does the Fountain of Youth help with joint pain? You can play this exciting out door game with as many people as you’d like.

You’ll each get a journal, and you can either work together as a team (lame) or compete against each other (now we’re talking) to find the fountain of youth.

This game has to be played during the day, so we recommend the latest you should start is 5 PM.  Should you start later, no worries.  The best thing about The Quest For The Fountain of Youth is that you can comeback to Laishley Park and finish it another time.

#7 Public Sunset Cruise On “The Oasis” Tiki Boat

This is exciting.  Punta Gorda Adventures tiki boat “The Oasis” is the most luxurious tiki experience on Charlotte Harbor.  Construction only finished on this aquatic artwork January 2024!  Yes, it is the newest tiki boat on Charlotte Harbor.  But if it doesn’t have the capacity to fit a large group, then it’s not much of a party, huh?  Well fortunately for Punta Gorda residents, it’s also the largest tiki boat on the harbor.  With capacity for up to 30 guests “The Oasis” brings the fun!

Equipped with state of the art surround sound systems you’ll enjoy listening to all of your favorite tunes with the lively beat of the ocean waves in the background.  Being the biggest tiki boat on the haror there’s plenty of room to sing and dance, with one incredible view.  Experience a true Southwestern sunset aboard “The Oasis” and you’ll never forget it!  View the scenic waterfronts of Charlotte Harbor and Punta Gorda as the sun sinks down into the ocean, painting the sky vivid hues of orange, scarlet, and violet.  All while lounging comfortably in plush seating with hand-stitched upholstery (they got that good back support too I’m tellin’ you).

#6 Kayak Eco-Tour

Go on a guided eco-tour with Steve (shoutout Steve I love that guy).  He’ll transform any novice kayaker, helplessly smacking the water, to a graceful swan gliding gently down the scenic Peace River.  Punta Gorda Adventures kayaks have cushioned seats, so you’ll be viewing Florida’s wildlife 1. In style, and 2. Super comfortably.

The best part of an eco tour is of course, the wildlife.  You’ll see all different types of native species of fauna and flora, birds such as egrets and herons, and even wild dolphins or manatees.  And yes.  There’s gators.  Duh, this is Florida.  But no one’s been chomped, bit or otherwise dismembered on an eco tour (yet).

If you know gators, you know they just like to chill and sunbathe.  And people aren’t on their menu, too full of GMO’s and artificial sweeteners.  But… when you see one of the swamp puppies in the wild on board a kayak you’ll just go… W O A H … And there’ll be this tense stillness in the air.  The splooshing of your paddle stops.  Your heart beat starts to race.  You register in your mind your paddling face to face with 2,000 pounds of bite force.  The gator looks at you with its unfeeling reptilian eyes.  Blinks.  Licks its scaly lips.  Then you snap a pic for Facebook (tag Punta Gorda Adventures)  and keep paddling. Besides Steve will protect you, this man is lethal with a kayak paddle.

#5 Public Daytime Sailboat Tour

The deep blue sea.  Sail out into the Gulf of Mexico aboard “Courageous.”  A powerful, 37 foot sailing vessel that proudly takes you and your loved ones on the journey of a lifetime.  Spacious inside and out, your whole crew will be smiling from the bow to the aft (sailing lingo, you’ll learn).  The beauty of a Public Sailboat Tour is that you don’t have to pay to charter the whole yacht.  Grab your first mate and get ready for a day full of adventure.

You’ll feel the peace and power of the ocean waves as you cruise down the scenic waterfronts of Punta Gorda and Charlotte Harbor.  Captain Curtis (awesome guy, lots of fun) will probably introduce you to some of our aquatic friends during your journey.  Don’t be surprised if you find yourself mingling with manatees, waving to dolphins, or watching pelicans nose-dive for some to-go seafood.  You might also see different types of fish like; snook, grouper, Jerry, and king mackerel (yum).

#4:  Private Sunset Sailboat Tour

The spice.  There’s nothing more serene than witnessing the sun kiss the Gulf of Mexico, while the wind plays with your hair, and the ocean serenades you with it’s song.  Wow.  Yeah it feels just like that.  And you can enjoy it with your favorite wine, beer, or liquor on this BYOB cruise.  One of the perks of a private charter.  Each charter can have up to 6 guests, including you.  This makes a Private Sunset Sailboat Tour perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, or any special occasion.  You. Reread the second sentence.  Yep, it’s also perfect for a date night.  I recommend grabbing your favorite couple friends and setting sail.  PRO TIP:  Bring some bubbles or white whine for this occasion, makes for an awesome toast for a joyous occasion.  Also red wine is not allowed.

#3: Private Yacht Charter to Boca Grande

Yes.  It does in fact keep getting better.  Charter Punta Gorda Adventures 52-foot motor yacht “Miss October” for you and 5 of your favorite people.  Take a trip to an exclusive tropical oasis, in style.  Boca Grande hardly needs an introduction, but I’ll give you a brief one anyway.  It’s a seven mile stretch of powder soft sand, warm, crystalline waters, exotic fish, and blooming flowers.  Boca Grande also hosts Gaspirella Island State Park, where you can tour the historic Port Boca Grande light house.

Enough about the destination.  It’s about the journey.  And how luxurious it is aboard “Miss October.”  You’ll receive first class service from the moment you set foot on Punta Gorda Adventures crown gem, to the moment your toes touch the warm gulf waters.  Every charter includes hors d'oeuvres, soft-drinks on ice, a personalized photo shoot of you and your favorite people on our sun deck, and lots of fun surprises.  The Punta Gorda Adventures crew on “Miss October” is close friends with one of the locals.  Ocean the dolphin.  If you’re lucky they may even introduce you.

#2:  Private Sunset Tiki Tour

All the fun.  With all of your favorite people.  Enjoy the same state of the art surround sound system, plush lounge seating, and of course the sunset views.  Just with all of your favorite people.  And no one else. As many or as little as you want, up to 30 guests.  You control the LED lights, the tunes, and the general vibe. It's your luau.

PLUS you can BYOB.  Perfect for any occasion worth celebrating, bachelor/bachelorette parties, grad bashes, birthdays, holiday parties, corporate outings, you name it. We ca even arrange cattering for you and your whole crew. Whenever you need something to do Punta Gorda Adventures brings the fun.

#1:  Private Sunset Yacht Tour

Drumroll… you guessed it.  The #1 best thing to do in Punta Gorda is to watch a sunset in luxury.  Viewing the sun dip below the horizon on the water is a whole new experience.  Doing it on board a 52-foot yacht is just the best way to experience it.  This 3 hour charter will take you farther and into deeper waters than you would typically go on a Punta Gorda Adventures sailboat.  Viewing it on top the cockpit of “Miss October” two stories up, sipping on your favorite wine, eating chef-inspired charcuterie, with 5 of your loved ones is the most fun money can buy in Punta Gorda.

Of course you’ll receive the same attentive service, sparkling water, hors d'oeuvre, and other amenities you would from a yacht charter through Punta Gorda Adventures.  It’ll just be more poetic and beautiful, while making for way better pictures.  After the sunsets you’ll experience the ocean depths in a whole new way.  The underwater lights of “Miss October” illuminate the surrounding waters.  Sing to the sunset, dance under the stars.   Stop reading.  Thank you for reading.  Now go have fun.  Charter “Miss October” for a sunset cruise today.
