Frequently Asked Questions: Biplane
Where do we depart?
Punta Gorda Airport. Address: 27450 Challenger Blvd, Punta Gorda, FL 33982
We are available to take you on a coastal biplane ride everyday between 7 am and 8 pm.
Up to two passengers can fly at once, in addition to the pilot. For weight and balance reasons, aerobatic flights are limited to one passenger.
We offer premium flights above exotic coastal destinations. Our favorites are: Boca Grande, Venice Beach, and Charlotte Harbor
We ask that you call us 24 hours ahead of your scheduled tour in the event you need to cancel or reschedule. Flights purchased are non-refundable, unless we have to cancel due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Punta Gorda Adventures, its pilots and agents, reserve the right to cancel a tour for any reason.
Weight limitations are variable and depend on the amount of fuel onboard, the weather conditions, the weight of the pilot, and other factors. As a general rule, we recommend the combined weight of two passengers not exceed 400 pounds, but we reserve the right to limit the flight to one passenger depending on the combination of current conditions.
Technically, no. However, kids under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. Our recommendations are based more on size and mobility than on age. Children under six are unlikely to be able to see out because the passenger cockpit is high-sided. We can provide a booster seat for younger children. As for our older friends…all they need is to be able to get into and out of the airplane safely.
It is important to make a reservation so that you can fly at your preferred date and time. Simply click the ‘Book Now’ button or give us a call on (941) 646-8454.
You may bring a camera (or your phone) to capture the many sights you’ll see from the air…but we remind you to look outside and enjoy the experience! Cameras should have a neck strap, and phones need to be held tightly…”Keep your hands and arms inside the ride at all times!”
The simplest answer is…whatever you feel comfortable in. Since you will be flying at 500-1000’, with the wind in your hair, a light jacket is recommended for those who feel the cold. Not that it’s ever really cold here on Florida’s beautiful Suncoast! And a word for the ladies – please, no high heels! You should wear flat, close-toed shoes to protect the airplane and ensure your shoes don’t fall off.
You should plan to arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled reservation. Once you’ve been checked in, you will meet with one of our staff and be given a short briefing about the airplane and the flight. After completing a waiver, you’ll be strapped in, the engine will start and you’ll be soaring off into the sky for an experience like no other. It’s so cool to observe the world from 1,000’ in the air and see the big picture – a whole new perspective on the world around you!
Our pilot is very knowledgeable about local weather patterns. He will make every effort to fly you at your scheduled time. However, safety (yours, ours and the airplane’s!) is paramount. The decision to fly – or not – is at the sole discretion of the pilot. Should we need to postpone a flight due to weather, we will reschedule you at your earliest convenience.
Frequently Asked Questions: Sailing
How Many Guests Can Come Aboard?
Up to 6 Guests can come aboard any of our boats.
We have a private dock, the address to which will be emailed to you after booking. All of our cruises are customizable however, and we have the option to pick up and drop off at various locations. We can accommodate many other pick up location requests depending on the tide depth and location.
Yes. No children under 5 years old are permitted on board. We do not offer different rates for different ages. Each person counts towards the United States Coast Guard (USGC) limit of six guests allowed on board. Children under 12 years of age must wear approved USCG life vest at all times. We have both children and adult life vests on board. If you would like a more quiet, adult-only, sailing cruise, we would recommend you book our private sailing cruise. While sailing can be physically demanding, we try our best to accommodate everyone with ease. However, we are somewhat restricted by dockage locations, and guests with limited mobility may find it challenging during boarding and debarkation.
No. We are not accepting furry crew mates at this time.
We know that nobody likes a lot of rules when on vacation, however, in the interest of safety, some things to keep in mind are:
-The Captain is ultimately in charge of vessel and passenger’s safety.
-No BYOB on public charters.
-A toilet use briefing will be given.
-If damaged during charter, guests will be charged for any repairs.
-No over-the-side swimming or jumping from the vessel at any time.
-We are a drug-free vessel.
-No open flames, including No Smoking is allowed on board. (Narcotic free vaping allowed)
-Children under 12 years of age must wear an approved USCG life vest at all times.
Just like in a restaurant, a tip is not mandatory. It is customary in the charter industry to tip the captain and first mate. A tip is a great way to show appreciation for the quality of service you were provided and charter etiquette is between 10-20% of the total cost of the charter.
Cancelation 48-hours prior to the charter will receive a full refund. We understand life happens, and we hope you'll come back to experience the ocean waves and sunshine rays we love so much.
If the captain determines the weather to be unacceptable/unsafe to complete the charter, we'll try and give you as much notice as possible. Florida weather changes quickly, so we try and be as flexible as possible. If we do have to cancel due to weather, we'll make sure to reschedule or give you a full refund. Your safety is our #1 priority.
